Apple AR/VR headset details appear online days ahead of WWDC 2023 event – Crypto News

Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2023 is set to kick start on June 5 where CEO Tim Cook will deliver his keynote speech. Major highlights of this year WWDC will be Apple’s mixed reality headset that is likely to make its first appearance at the event.

Days ahead of the event, reliable Apple tipster Ross Young has shared alleged specifications of Apple’s rumored virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headset. In a post on the microblogging site Twitter, Young says that Apple AR/VR headset will feature dual 1.41-inch micro OLED displays with 4,000 PPI index and more than 5,000 nits of brightness.

The mixed reality headset is expected to be named ‘Reality Pro’. Apple Reality Pro could be powered by a chipset with a processor similar to Apple’s M2 chipset and could sport a dozen or so cameras to detect body movements and read facial expressions.

According to CCS Insight, the device is likely to be seven times as expensive as Meta Platforms Inc.’s Quest 2, the biggest selling VR headset currently with 18 million units to date. The Apple AR/VR headset is said to be priced at around $3,000 ( 2.48 lakh).

The headset is expected to come with a control knob to switch between virtual reality and augmented reality. At the onset, Apple’s headset will not be a mass-market product. According to reports, shipments of the device in 2023 are expected to be a tiny fraction of Apple’s other products.

Apple’s annual developer conference – WWDC kicks off on June 5 this year. The event will end on June 9. Apple WWDC 2023 will begin with a keynote delivered by CEO Tim Cook on day 1. Similar to the past year, Apple WWDC will be an online event. The company has however invited select developers and students along with some media professionals to Apple Park for an in-person event.
