Apple’s iPhone 15 witness declining sales in China amid tough competition with Huawei – Crypto News

Apple’s latest premium smartphone iPhone 15 sales in China are behind its predecessor iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 series was launched by the Cupertino-based tech giant at the Wonderlust event on September 12. However, Apple is facing tough local competition from Huawei especially after the launch of Mate 60 Pro.

According to Counterpoint data quoted by Bloomberg, the sales of iPhone 15 are down by 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14 during the same period. The research blamed the loss of demand for iPhone 15 due to China’s economy still trying to bounce back from the Covid slump. The market tracker also noted that the iPhone 15 likely posted a double-digit percentage rise over 2022 in the US during the first nine days of sale.

Counterpoint research director Jeff Fieldhack told Bloomberg, “The US is hot right now with back-to-back stellar weekends for the new iPhone… It’s a positive sign from the biggest iPhone market in the world. So definitely takes some of the sting off the China numbers.”

Meanwhile, Jefferies analyst Edison Lee predicts a double-digit percentage decline for the iPhone 15 sales compared to its predecessor.

Many analysts have argued that Huawei’s rise could erode Apple’s dominance in the premium smartphone market. Jefferies informed on Monday that Huawei has now become the top smartphone player in China, taking over from Apple.
