Developers leveraging tech stacks from Arbitrum, Optimism, ZkSync, Polygon, and StarkWare will have access to AvailDA.

Avail, a data availability solution that spun out of Polygon, has revealed integrations with five of the Ethereum ecosystem’s leading Layer 2 networks.

Announced on April 24, Arbitrum, Optimism, ZkSync, Polygon, and StarkWare will each integrate Avail’s data availability architecture, Avail DA, into their respective tech stacks ahead of the project’s mainnet launch.

Avail said that the five projects collectively host approximately 10% of monthly active developers within the web3 ecosystem.

The integration will allow developers leveraging Arbitrum’s Orbit and AnyTrust, Optimism’s OP Plasma, ZkSync’s ZK Stack, Polygon’s Chain Development Kit, and StarkWare’s Madara rollup framework to leverage Avail DA for data availability services.

Unification Layer

Avail announced it had spun out from Polygon Labs in March 2023, taking Polygon co-founder, Anurag Arjun with it.

The project is working to build a “Unification Layer” designed to solve the challenges of fragmentation within Ethereum’s ecosystem of Layer 2 rollups. When live, Avail’s Unification Layer will span AvailDA, its Avail Nexus permissionless interoperability solution, and the Avail Fusion multi-asset staking protocol.

Avail published its “roadmap to mainnet” on March 29, asserting it is in its “final stages” before deployment. Avail told The Defiant that its mainnet launch will take place some time “in the next few weeks.”

The project still needs to deploy its final testnet, test its light clients, and finalize its validator ecosystem before scheduling its mainnet deployment.

Avail said its testnet has hosted more than 100 million transactions so far.

AVAIL token

Avail unveiled plans for a native token and staking mechanism for its Unification Layer on April 4. The project also said it will explore a phased approach to rolling out tokenized governance, with AVAIL holders able to participate in governing the project.

On April 18, Avail followed up by announcing it will airdrop 600 million AVAIL to 345,605 wallets associated with developers and users from across the web3 ecosystem. Eligible wallets include blockchain ecosystem developers, incentivized testnet contributors, rollup users, Polygon PoS stakers, and significant community contributors.

“When deciding on the eligibility criteria for the Unification Drop, we wanted to reward those who are making valuable contributions to the ecosystem, and take building core blockchain infrastructure as seriously as we do,” Avail said.

AVAIL claims will close on May 5. The project added that it will launch a points program following its mainnet rollout.
