A North Carolina woman says she couldn’t believe her eyes when her Truist IRA account suddenly displayed a balance of $220 billion.

The error appeared on her online statement due to a glitch, making her appear to be a new member of the wealthy elite, reports WCNC Charlotte.

“I was just shocked to see a balance of approximately $220 billion.

I immediately knew it had to be a mistake, but for a brief moment, my account made it appear that I was one of the wealthiest people in the world.

I’ve never seen a glitch to this extent. It could be a couple hundred dollars, maybe a thousand, but not this significant amount of money.”

Truist says the issue was a display error and not an actual deposit or change to her funds.

The glitch affected the visual representation but did not alter the real account value, which remained her standard retirement savings.

Bank representatives say they quickly addressed the matter after the customer reported it, restoring the correct display. No funds were lost or moved as a result of the error.

The bank has since released a statement on what happened.

“An incorrect balance temporarily rendered on the individual’s account. I can confirm no erroneous transaction ever took place. The individual’s account now displays the correct balance.
