Soon after launching Gemini 3, Google has released its latest image generation model called Nano Banana Pro. The company’s last image generation model, Gemini 2.5 Flash, also known as Nano Banana, had led to a flurry of viral image generation trends on social media and the company would be hoping to replicate a similar trend with this launch.

Announcing the new model in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai wrote, “You went 🍌🍌 for Nano Banana. Now, meet Nano Banana Pro. It’s SOTA for image generation and editing with more advanced world knowledge, text rendering, precision and controls. Built on Gemini 3, it’s really good at complex infographics, much like how engineers see the world:)”

What’s new with Nano Banana Pro?

The new image generation model is powered by Gemini 3 and Google says it can help users visualise any idea and design anything, from prototypes to representing data as infographics to turning handwritten notes into diagrams.

The company also explains in its blogpost that Nano Banana Pro can generate more accurate, context rich images due to enhanced reasoning, world knowledge and real-time information.

Nano Banana Pro can either use the information provided by users to generate images or generate content based on real world information. For instance, Google says Nano Banana Pro can connect to Google Search to create images for a recipe, sports charts or weather reports.

Google also claims that Nano Banana Pro is the best model for creating images with correctly rendered and legible text.

“You can create more detailed text in mockups or posters with a wider variety of textures, fonts and calligraphy. With Gemini’s enhanced multilingual reasoning, you can generate text in multiple languages or localise and translate your content so you can scale internationally and share content more easily with friends and family,” the company explained in its blogpost.

Nano Banana Pro also allows users to blend up to fourteen images into one frame while maintaining consistency and resemblance of up to five people.

Google is also providing users with the ability to make localised edits to their images using Nano Banana Pro. This means users will be able to adjust camera angles, change focus, apply colour grading or transform scene lighting using the new AI model.

Who can use Nano Banana Pro?

Google says it is rolling out Nano Banana Pro to all users globally in the Gemini app. Users can try out the new model when they click on the Create images option inside the app.

However, free tier users will have limited free image generations after which they will be reverted to the original Nano Banana model. Meanwhile, Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra users will have a higher quota of image edits and generations but Google did not give an exact number.

The company also said that NotebookLM users will be able to use Nano Banana Pro globally.
