Science fiction author Tim Boucher has used AI generator tools to publish 97 books in just 9 months. While normal authors take months and years to write a book, Boucher manages to write his books in just 6 to 8 hours and has even produced a book in just 3 hours.

In an article written for Newsweek, Boucher wrote, “My goal was straightforward: To craft a series of unique, captivating ebooks merging dystopian pulp sci-fi with compelling AI world-building.”

“AI has proven to be a remarkable catalyst for my creative work. It has enabled me to increase my output while maintaining consistent quality, and has allowed me to delve into intricate world-building with an efficiency I could never have achieved otherwise.” the science fiction author added

Tim Boucher used ChatGPT (based on GPT-4) and Anthropic’s Claude for ‘brainstorming and text generation’ and image generator MidJourney for illustrating his novels.

Boucher began his journey to create stories using artificial intelligence in August 2022. Between August and May, Boucher sold 574 books, earning around $2,000. He says that AI has helped him breathe life into stories and narratives which have been brewing in his mind for years.

The author has managed to create a series of novels that he calls ‘AI Lore books’. These books are typically between 2,000 and 5,000 words and contain between 40 and 140 AI-generated images.

While many people believe that artificial intelligence could eventually replace humans in many fields, Boucher says that AI will serve as a powerful tool to enhance the capabilities of creative people.

Powerful generative AI-based chatbots such as Chat GPT and Bard have enabled users to complete complex tasks that would have taken hours to complete with just one prompt. However, many studies have shown that these AI tools could lead to job losses in many sectors, including writers, programmers, accountants and more.
