Instagram launches Broadcast Channels in India. Check how it works and how to join – Crypto News

Meta-backed social media platform Instagram announced on Thursday the expansion of its Broadcast Channel in India. Instagram said that the expansion will allow creators a new way to directly engage with their followers at scale. The social media platform added that the Broadcast Channel will help creators to deepen their connections with their followers.

What are Broadcast Channels?

According to a statement from Instagram, Broadcast Channels serve as a public means of communication where creators have the ability to invite all of their followers and disseminate textual, video, and photographic updates. Furthermore, creators can utilize voice notes to share their most recent updates and provide glimpses into behind-the-scenes moments. Additionally, creators have the option to generate polls in order to gather feedback from their fans. It is important to note that only creators have the privilege to send messages within broadcast channels, whereas followers can express their reactions to the content and participate in voting on polls.

How Do Broadcast Channels Work?

After gaining access to Broadcast Channel, when a creator sends their initial message through their Instagram inbox, their followers will receive a single notification prompting them to join the channel. While anyone can come across the Broadcast Channel and access its content, only those followers who actually join the channel will receive subsequent notifications whenever there are new updates.

“Followers can leave or mute broadcast channels at any time and can also control their notifications from creators by going to a creator’s profile, tapping the bell icon and selecting broadcast channel,” the Instagram statement added.

How to Join a Broadcast Channel:

To access the Broadcast Channel, there are multiple options available. You can access it through a creator’s Story sticker, by clicking on the link pinned to their Instagram profile, or by receiving a one-time notification as an existing follower when the creator starts a new channel.

Once you have reached the Broadcast Channel, simply tap on “Join broadcast channel.” If you are not already following the creator, you will be prompted to do so in order to proceed.
