PumpFun Livestream Feature: In a move signaling renewed confidence in its content ecosystem, Solana-based memecoin launchpad Pump.fun has reintroduced its livestream feature after a five-month hiatus.

The platform paused the functionality in November 2024 following incidents of inappropriate content streaming, but it’s now returning — cautiously and with revamped guardrails.

Pump.fun then livestream feature allowed users to stream themselves while launching or promoting tokens directly through its interface.

The feature, launched as an experiment to increase community engagement and virality, quickly caught on. But it also opened the door to unmoderated and sometimes harmful content, including hate speech and graphic material.

PumpFun LiveStream Feature Makes a Controlled Comeback

Pump.fun has opted for a phased reintroduction of the feature introducing these key changes:

1. Enhanced Content Moderation: Pump.fun has established new guidelines prohibiting content involving violence, harassment, sexual exploitation, and illegal activities. Violations may result in stream termination and account suspension.

2. Limited User Access: The livestreaming feature is currently available to only 5% of users during this initial phase, allowing the platform to monitor and adjust its moderation systems effectively.

Notably, it also recently launched its latest product PumpFi, helping users to allow users to buy digital assets

A New Rulebook

The updated livestream policy bans any content that contains harassment, hate speech, nudity, graphic violence, or any form of illegal activity. Violations could result in stream shutdowns, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans depending on severity.

“We’re drawing a hard line,” said the platform in its blog post announcement. “We want to be a hub for memes, not mayhem.”

Moderation will include both automated AI tools that flag suspect content in real-time and community reporting systems. Livestreamers must also now agree to a streaming code of conduct before they go live.

Still, the cautious relaunch is a smart move for a platform trying to maintain relevance as the memecoin craze fades amid increasing rugpulls and market volatility.

Can Livestreaming and Token Culture Balance the Hype

The broader significance of Pump.fun’s livestream revival ties into a growing trend: real-time community interaction in token economies.

As Web3 platforms continue to blur the lines between content creation and financial speculation, tools like livestreaming allow users to generate hype, drive liquidity, and foster community identity around tokens. But these tools come with the same moderation dilemmas seen on Web2 platforms — often with fewer safety nets.
