Shiba Inu on its official Twitter handle announced a special countdown related to the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The team posted a link to a website that shows a countdown timer against a Shiba Inu-themed backdrop, which ends today at 8 PM UTC. Crypto Twitter believes the countdown is related to the much awaited layer-2 blockchain solution Shibarium,

Shiba Inu developer and SHIB Defense Team co-lead Shib Trophias in a tweet on December 19 confirmed that the countdown is the first step for Shibarium’s beta launch. He shared that the first step is to update the main website.

Moreover, the website will be launched in a phased rollout manner and developers will try to make it a smooth roll-out without any issues.

“First thing is to update our main website. It was much needed and this is our first step as we march towards Shibarium’s Beta launch. The whole website will not launch all at once. Phased rollouts will happen and we’ll try to make it as smooth as possible.”

Shiba Inu Selloffs by Whales

The market-wide selloff in the last few months has also impacted the Shiba Inu price. Despite the anticipated Shibarium upgrade, whales have been sold SHIB tokens and made millions in profits from massive rallies in 2021.

While selloffs by whales and dormant addresses are becoming active and selling SHIB tokens, the community remains hopeful over the layer-2 blockchain solution Shibarium.

While Trophias did not give a specific date, the developer only revealed that the Shibarium Beta would launch soon.

Along with SHIB price jump, BONE and LEASH tokens of the Shiba Inu ecosystem saw similar rallies in anticipation of the Shibarium launch. In the last 48 hours, the BONE and LEASH prices increased by nearly 30% and 15%, respectively.

At the time of writing, the BONE price is trading at $0.912 and the LEASH price is trading at $323. Analysts believe prices can recover in the short term.
