The Meta-owned instant messaging app platform is soon getting a new feature that will allow users to send high-quality videos. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the feature is already available to some beta testers. whatsapp beta for Android 2.23.14.10 is marked as a compatible update, the report states. For those unaware, WaBetaInfo is a platform that keeps track of new and upcoming features of WhatsApp,

The report states that WhatsApp will add a button within the drawing editor. Users will be able to enable this button to send high-quality videos. Readers must note that they will still not be able to share videos in their original quality. While the feature maintains the dimensions of the video, light compression is still applied.

Similar to the high-quality photo feature, the default option for any video is always “Standard quality”. So, whenever a user wants to share a new video with better quality, he/she will need to select the high-quality option each time.

Also, every time a user sends a video using the high-quality option, it will be marked as a high-quality video in the conversation. As happens with high-quality photos, a new tag is automatically added to the message bubble when a video is shared by using this feature, the report says.

As mentioned above, the feature is currently available to some beta testers that have installed the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. It will be rolling out to more users over the coming weeks. The ability to share high quality videos is also available to select users on WhatsApp beta for iOS.

Recently, WhatsApp launched an enhanced feature on its Windows desktop app, allowing users to engage in video and audio calls with up to 32 individuals. The capability is accessible to beta testers, who must install the beta update 2.23.24.1.0 to utilize it.
