Following, a number of big players like Fidelity, WisdomTree, and others also submitted their applications with the US SEC.<\/p>\n<p>While the market is viewing these developments quite optimistically, banking giant JPMorgan believes that it won&#8217;t have much impact in the crypto space.  In its research report on Thursday, July 6, JPMorgan shared a number of reasons behind its analysis.<\/p>\n<p><!-- WP QUADS Content Ad Plugin v. 2.0.72.1 --><\/p>\n<p>First, JPMorgan noted that the SEC has yet to approve an ETF for spot bitcoin.  In the past, the US securities regulator has rejected a number of applications for the spot Bitcoin ETF.  However, this time, there&#8217;s renewed optimism among investors as they believe that the SEC&#8217;s previous concerns have been addressed, notes JPMorgan.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts at JPMorgan led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou wrote: \u201cSpot bitcoin ETFs [have] existed for some time outside the US, in Canada and Europe, but have failed to attract large investor interest\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Spot Bitcoin ETF vs Futures Bitcoin ETF<\/h3>\n<p><!-- WP QUADS Content Ad Plugin v. 2.0.72.1 --><\/p>\n<p>In the report, JPMorgan added that the spot Bitcoin ETF will eventually take over the futures Bitcoin ETF.  \u201cSpot ETFs are more likely than futures based ETFs to reflect real time supply and demand and their approval in the US would bring more liquidity and enhance price transparency in spot bitcoin markets,\u201d as per the JPMorgan <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2023\/07\/07\/sec-approval-of-spot-bitcoin-etf-is-unlikely-to-be-a-game-changer-for-crypto-markets-jpmorgan\/?utm_content=editorial&#038;utm_campaign=coindesk_main&#038;utm_term=organic&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter\">reports<\/a> accessed by CoinDesk.<\/p>\n<p><!-- WP QUADS Content Ad Plugin v. 2.0.72.1 --><\/p>\n<p>According to the note, physically backed bitcoin ETFs provide certain advantages over futures-based funds, although these advantages are relatively minor.
