{"id":119947,"date":"2023-07-09T11:02:16","date_gmt":"2023-07-09T11:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/arbitrum-vs-optimism-who-will-top-the-l2-war-crypto-news\/"},"modified":"2023-07-09T11:02:18","modified_gmt":"2023-07-09T11:02:18","slug":"arbitrum-vs-optimism-who-will-top-the-l2-war-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/arbitrum-vs-optimism-who-will-top-the-l2-war-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Arbitrum vs Optimism: Who will top the L2 war\n &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<br style=\"clear: both; display: block; float: none;\"\/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Revenue made by sequencers on Optimism and Arbitrum has grown significantly in the last year. <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Optimism&#8217;s Bedrock upgrade has resulted in an uptick in daily network transactions.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Layer 2 (L2) networks <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/search\/optimism\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">optimism [OP]<\/a>  and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/search\/ARB\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Arbitrum [ARB]<\/a>  have seen a surge in cumulative sequencer revenue in the last year, on-chain data platform Delphi Digital noted in a recent <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/delphi_digital\/status\/1677709125902561280?s=46\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tweet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sequencers are entities or individuals responsible for creating and submitting compressed summaries of transactions to the Ethereum mainnet.  As more users and projects adopt Optimistic Rollups and migrate their transactions to Arbitrum and Optimism, the demand for sequencer services increases.  This increased demand translates into higher revenue for these sequencers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>All credits belong to the users<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On-chain assessment of the network activity on Optimism and Arbitrum revealed that sequencer revenue growth had accelerated recently.  This was due to the rising adoption of layer-two solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holding a much larger share of the L2 market, the cumulative count of distinct addresses on Arbitrum <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/arbitrum-whats-behind-the-plummeting-transaction-count\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">recently<\/a> crossed the 9-million mark, per data from <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arbiscan.io\/chart\/tx\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ArbiScan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,  As of 8 July, 9.70 million unique addresses were housed within the network. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optimism, however, trailed with a total unique address count of 6.26 million, according to data from <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/optimistic.etherscan.io\/chart\/address\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">etherscan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The divergence in the cumulative count of addresses on both networks is also reflected in the difference in the total value of assets locked (TVL) on each. Data from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sandraaleow\/status\/1674370753691815937?s=20\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Nansen<\/a> revealed that Arbitrum experienced a significant surge in daily active addresses during its AirDrop event in March.  However, there has since been a steady decline in daily wallet activity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In contrast, the number of daily active addresses on the Optimism network showed an upward trend in June.  And that position that has been maintained so far in Q3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, regarding the number of transactions completed on both networks, Arbitrum saw relatively stable transactional activity throughout June, with no significant changes.  However, Optimism experienced a sharp increase in transaction volume during the same period.
