The executive will lead a team responsible for making a proper legislative framework for the project. <\/p>\n<p>The position was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/wyoming?keywords=stable%20token&#038;pagetype=jobOpportunitiesJobs&#038;jobId=4126743&#038;jobName=stc-0419-executive-director-cheyenne-or-laramie&#038;tab=1\">opened<\/a> on the federal government&#8217;s website for civilian jobs on July 20. The commission seeks to hire an executive director who would lead a team comprised of the Wyoming governor, state auditor, state treasurer and four &#8220;expert appointees.&#8221;  The state is looking for someone with connections and expertise in the blockchain industry, promising a $150,000 annual salary. <\/p>\n<p>The Wyoming Stable Token Act was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2023\/SF0127\">introduced<\/a> in February 2022, becoming law in March 2023. The act authorizes the issuance of a US dollar-pegged stablecoin redeemable for fiat held in an account by the state.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/us-court-rejects-fed-s-motion-to-dismiss-custodia-bank-case\"><strong><em>US court rejects Fed&#8217;s motion to dismiss Custodia Bank case<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the text of the law, the stable token commission is responsible, among others, for deciding the overall number of tokens to be issued, concluding the requirements for redemption, and selecting the financial institutions to manage the tokens. <\/p>\n<p>In April 2023, a similar initiative <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/texas-lawmakers-propose-a-gold-backed-state-digital-currency\">was proposed in the state of Texas<\/a>, where lawmakers introduced bills for creating a state-based digital currency backed by gold.  At the same time, several US <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ted-cruz-and-ron-desantis-take-on-the-digital-dollar-law-decoded-march-20-27\">lawmakers have argued against<\/a> the federal government&#8217;s interest in introducing a central bank digital currency. <\/p>\n<p>Wyoming is a crypto-friendly jurisdiction.  Recently, the state&#8217;s Governor, Mark Gordon, signed a bill <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/wyoming-lawmakers-pass-bill-to-prevent-forced-disclosure-of-private-keys\">preventing the forced disclosure of private keys<\/a> to protect the privacy of digital asset owners.
