{"id":138429,"date":"2023-09-02T03:49:02","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T22:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=138429"},"modified":"2023-09-02T03:49:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T22:19:02","slug":"bitcoin-and-ether-now-less-volatile-than-oil-report-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/bitcoin-and-ether-now-less-volatile-than-oil-report-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin and Ether now less volatile than oil: Report &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-v-2649fa34=\"\">\n<p>The Bitcoin (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\">BTC<\/a>) and Ether (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/ethereum-price\">ETH<\/a>) 90-day price volatility hit a new multi-year low in August as the top two cryptocurrencies continue to trade under their key resistance of $30,000 and $2,000 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>According to data shared by crypto analytic firm Kaiko, the 90-day volatility of BTC and ETH hit 35% and 37% respectively making it less volatile than oil with volatility of 41%. Such a decline in the price momentum of the top two crypto assets was last seen in 2016.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>90-day price volatility of Bitcoin, Ether and Oil. Source: Kaiko<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The chart above indicates that BTC and ETH price volatility is more than half at the same time last year. While August is considered a bullish month for the crypto ecosystem, the declining price fluctuation is considered bullish by many.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the 90-day volatility at its lowest in 7 years, the daily Bitcoin volatility is also at 5-year low. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-08\/8bf582b8-6ac8-4a6a-89a0-67a691cb07be.jpg\" \/><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Bitcoin daily volatility reaches 5-year low. Source: TradingView<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bitcoin technical analyst who goes by the social media name of Cryptocon took to X platform to share observations about Bitcoin price volatility decline and what actually follows the period of low volatility. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-speculators-btc-since-69k-all-time-highs\">Bitcoin speculators now own the least BTC since $69K all-time highs<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The technical analyst noted that Bitcoin price went through a similar cycle of low price volatility in 2020 before the bull market picked up, however, he warned against the sideways movement of the top cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> volatility continues to decrease, which I&#8217;ve shown is bullish <\/p>\n<p>But the burning question is, when does the sideways grind end?<\/p>\n<p>Upon thinking about I was reminded of a time very similar to now\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/psO50vxUWD\">pic.twitter.com\/psO50vxUWD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CryptoCon (@CryptoCon_) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoCon_\/status\/1691818813044461646?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 16, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The analyst noted that despite the Black Swan event of 2020 when the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/crypto-market-meltdown-continues-as-bitcoin-price-drops-below-5-000\">BTC price fell over 50% in a day below $5000,<\/a> Bitcoin made a recovery the very next month. However, when BTC price neared the $10,000 mark, the momentum vanished, again recording very low volatility.
