Solana Pay will be integrating with Shopify, one of the world\u2019s biggest e-commerce platforms in the world for a new payment function.<\/p>\n

The Solana Foundation, creators of Solana Pay, says in an announcement that the protocol will now be included as a payment option on Shopify.<\/p>\n

Solana\u2019s X page says<\/a>,<\/p>\n

\u201cPayments should be accessible, fast, and frictionless: With no intermediary, Solana Pay eliminates bank fees, chargebacks, and holding times while enabling immediate, direct payment settlement of USD stablecoins compatible with Solana.<\/em><\/p>\n

Shopify payments can now become a gateway for web3-enabled commerce experiences, enabling merchants and consumers who use Solana Pay to unlock:<\/em><\/p>\n

Token-gated offers<\/em>
Simple cross-border payments<\/em>
NFT-based loyalty programs<\/em><\/p>\n

And more, depending on your business goals.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking to TechCrunch<\/a>, Josh Fried, business development and partnerships at Solana Foundation said that Circle\u2019s USDC<\/a> will be the first stablecoin available for the new integration.<\/p>\n

Says Fried,<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people argue the killer app for crypto hasn\u2019t arrived, but it has: it\u2019s payments\u2026 [Everyone] should be doubling down on this.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

According to Fried, Solana Labs believes the Solana blockchain is \u201cperfectly suited for payments,\u201d given that there are \u201cno intermediaries, bank fees, chargebacks and holding times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need speed at the point of sale for merchant payments. No one wants to sit on a website to wait for wallet transactions. Similarly in a point of sale in a store, can you imagine waiting three minutes for your payment to go through? No one wants to do that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
