China’s Baidu has made its ChatGPT<\/a> rival chatbot Ernie fully available to the public. Released in March this year with year limited availability, Ernie bot is the first dometic AI application to be fully made avaialable to the public in China and it is not available outside the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n In a statement on Thursday, Baidu said, “We are thrilled to share that ERNIE Bot is now fully open to the general public starting August 31,”\u00a0<\/p>\n “In addition to ERNIE Bot, Baidu is set to launch a suite of new AI-native apps that allow users to fully experience the four core abilities of generative AI: understanding, generation, reasoning, and memory.”, the statement added.\u00a0<\/p>\n Baidu on Thursday announced that Ernie bot is available to the general public in China by using the official website and an app which was only available in China’s app store, reported The Associated Press. The app had massive traction and topped the Apple’s app store in China for free apps.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ernie can generate text and images in response to questions and prompts provided by the users.\u00a0<\/p>\n Baidu CEO Robin Li said that releasing Ernie to the public will help collect massive real-world human feedback which would help improve its foundation models.\u00a0<\/p>\n According to the new Chinese rules which came into effect on August 15, generative AI services have to get clearance from the government before becoming available to domestic users.
