The stolen assets included ETH, USDC, USDT, and DAI, spanning across Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Chain.<\/p>\n<p>Stake <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Stake\/status\/1698746766076588057\">had earlier confirmed<\/a> that an unauthorized entity had made transactions from its ETH and BSC hot wallets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stake keeps a small portion of its crypto reserves in hot wallets at any given moment for these very reasons.&#8221; Stake co-founder Ed Craven <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StakeEddie\/status\/1698748627622244840\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Within hours of acknowledging the security breach, Stake was back <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Stake\/status\/1698809658742637022\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Potential Links to North Korea<\/h2>\n<p>Security firm PeckShield <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeckShieldAlert\/status\/1698870451815285045\">reported<\/a> that the exploit targeted multiple hot wallets. MetaMask Lead Product Manager Taylor Monahan noted that the hackers appeared methodical, distributing the stolen funds across multiple wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Monahan also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tayvano_\/status\/1698783607580684357\">suggested<\/a> a potential link between the Stake exploit and North Korean hackers, citing similarities with previous exploits.<\/p>\n<p>Stake is one of the largest crypto gambling platforms, reporting <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/2490279b-9c94-49a8-beff-cbd7c3307586\">$2.6B<\/a> in revenue for 2022.
