{"id":156367,"date":"2023-09-15T10:43:31","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T05:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=156367"},"modified":"2023-09-15T10:43:31","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T05:13:31","slug":"metas-horizon-worlds-launches-on-mobile-and-web-in-early-access-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/metas-horizon-worlds-launches-on-mobile-and-web-in-early-access-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta\u2019s Horizon Worlds launches on mobile and web in early access &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-v-281e09ba=\"\">\n<p>Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has finally made the move to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/magazine\/forget-2022-how-metaverse-bounce-back-2023\/\">expand his metaverse Horizon Worlds<\/a> from virtual reality headsets to people&#8217;s smartphones and computers.<\/p>\n<p>The 3D avatar-based social platform <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meta.com\/en-gb\/blog\/quest\/horizon-worlds-web-mobile-social-vr-free\/\">announced<\/a> in a Sept. 15 blog post that it has started rolling out its first Meta Horizon world to mobile and web in an early access state.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only experience immediately available is Super Rumble, a free-for-all shooter that launched in late July, allowing two to six players to come together in fast-paced matches lasting five minutes. Meta said that more experiences and worlds will be coming to the platform over the coming months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Super Rumble, a first-person shooter previously only available on VR devices. Source: Meta<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With the initial rollout, only a small number of people will be able to access it on the web or the Meta Quest app on Android, with an iOS rollout slated for the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarly access will roll out to more people gradually as we gather feedback and evolve the experience,\u201d said Meta.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe metaverse should be available to everyone \u2014 no matter what device they\u2019re on,\u201d the tech giant added. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAnd while Quest headsets are the most immersive way to access the metaverse, we believe there should be multiple entry points.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meta said bringing Worlds to more devices <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/metaverse-dead-united-states-thriving-asia-sandbox-sebastien-borget\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/metaverse-dead-united-states-thriving-asia-sandbox-sebastien-borget\/amp\">will open up the experience to more people<\/a>. Meta hasn\u2019t released any public statistics on its monthly active users, but a report from The Wall Street Journal in October 2022 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/meta-metaverse-horizon-worlds-zuckerberg-facebook-internal-documents-11665778961\">suggested<\/a> it was less than 200,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meta&#8217;s social platform is still currently only available in Canada, France, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/meta-ruined-the-metaverse-but-now-its-evolving-yuga-labs-ceo\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/meta-ruined-the-metaverse-but-now-its-evolving-yuga-labs-ceo\/amp\">Meta \u2018ruined\u2019 the term metaverse, but now it\u2019s evolving: Yuga Labs CEO<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, blockchain-based metaverse platforms, including Decentraland and The Sandbox, seemingly started their journey the other way around.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both launched as PC and web-based experiences first, with Decentraland launching its browser-based 3D virtual world in February 2020 and The Sandbox launching its Alpha on PC in November 2021. Both have yet to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/why-isn-t-there-a-vr-client-yet-for-decentraland-or-the-sandbox\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/why-isn-t-there-a-vr-client-yet-for-decentraland-or-the-sandbox\/amp\">release an official virtual reality port<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>We&#8217;ve got legs!<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, Meta avatars in Horizon Worlds have finally received a long-awaited update \u2014 virtual legs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg initially copped criticism after the launch of his metaverse, with observers noting that the massive investment from the firm couldn\u2019t even give its avatars virtual legs.
