A bad actor who hacked the infamous crypto exchange FTX as it was collapsing is abruptly moving millions of dollars worth of crypto assets.<\/p>\n

According to data from blockchain intelligence platform Arkham, the FTX hacker, who holds<\/a> over $300 million worth of digital assets, has moved some Ethereum (ETH<\/a>) for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n

Arkham finds that so far, $8 million worth of the second-largest crypto asset by market cap has been moved via the smart contract system RailGun (RAIL<\/a>) and the decentralized exchange protocol Thorchain (RUNE<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Arkham\u2019s data shows the wallet known as \u201cFTX Exploiter\u201d holding<\/a> $1.7 million worth of Dai (DAI<\/a>), $3.97 million worth of Tether (USDT<\/a>), $30,000 worth of USDC<\/a>, as well as $43,000 worth of Binance Coin (BNB<\/a>), $42,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>), and $8,500 worth of Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In November 2022 \u2013 right around when the crypto exchange filed for bankruptcy \u2013 FTX announced<\/a> that it had been hacked to the tune of $383 million.<\/p>\n

At the time, the firm\u2019s general counsel Ryne Miller released a statement letting traders know of the hack and warning investors that FTX had been infected by malware.<\/p>\n

\u201cFTX has been hacked. Chat is open. Don\u2019t go to the FTX site as it might download Trojans. Note that some funds were retrieved.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

Days later, it was revealed<\/a> that the hacker became one of the largest Ethereum whales in the world after consolidating the stolen goods into ETH. According to data from Ethereum explorer Etherscan, the wallet known as \u201cFTX Accounts Drainer\u201d became the 35th-largest Ethereum whale in the world at the time.<\/p>\n
