{"id":173023,"date":"2023-10-12T21:08:50","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T15:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=173023"},"modified":"2023-10-12T21:08:50","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T15:38:50","slug":"farcaster-launches-permissionless-onboarding-the-defiant-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/farcaster-launches-permissionless-onboarding-the-defiant-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Farcaster Launches Permissionless Onboarding &#8211; The Defiant &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Farcaster, the Optimism-based decentralized social media protocol, opened its doors to permissionless onboarding.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Romero, the co-founder of Farcaster, announced the news on Oct. 11 via <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dwr\/status\/1712143822992584830\">tweet<\/a>, declaring that the platform is now open to all users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to announce that our social network, Farcaster, is 100% permissionless,\u201d Romero said. \u201cAnyone with an internet connection and some Ether can sign up and use the network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romero added that Warpcast, a Farcaster client, also facilitates onboarding for users who do not hold ETH.<\/p>\n<p>Farcaster announced it would <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/farcaster-to-migrate-from-ethereum-to-optimism-superchain\">migrate<\/a> from the Ethereum mainnet to Optimism in August. Users can choose to utilize any client of their choice, while devs have full access to the platform\u2019s data and APIs. Farcaster charges an annual fee of $5 for users to access the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Sassano, host of The Daily Gwei podcast, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Iz4yAq3eSlI\">speculated<\/a> that Farcaster\u2019s success will be determined by whether it becomes overrun with bots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m very very curious to see what Farcaster looks like in six months,\u201d Sassano said. \u201cIs it overrun by bots? Is it overrun by spam? What does the content moderation look like? These social platforms live or die based on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news comes amid the impressive rise of the web3 SocialFi sector, with the social trading platform, Friend Tech, leading the charge in August. Friend Tech quickly emerged as a top web3 protocol by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/friend-tech-trading-volumes-cross-220m\">fee revenue<\/a>, recently enjoying beating out Uniswap with seven figures daily.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct 10, Lens, the decentralized social graph from Aave, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/lens-ups-user-onboarding-ahead-of-v2-migration\">announced<\/a> it would begin onboarding users at a faster rate ahead of its forthcoming v2 migration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Farcaster, the Optimism-based decentralized social media protocol, opened its doors to permissionless onboarding.
