{"id":176491,"date":"2023-10-18T15:15:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T09:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=176491"},"modified":"2023-10-18T15:15:49","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T09:45:49","slug":"eu-adopts-new-crypto-tax-rules-mandate-data-sharing-from-crypto-firms-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/eu-adopts-new-crypto-tax-rules-mandate-data-sharing-from-crypto-firms-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"EU adopts new crypto tax rules, mandate data sharing from crypto firms &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The European Union adopted a new law that will mandate cryptocurrency firms to share customer holdings, which will be automatically shared between tax authorities, the European Council announced Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>See related article: <\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forkast.news\/us-legislator-discuss-cbdc-prevention-bill\/\">US legislators to discuss CBDC prevention bill on Sept. 20<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fast Facts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The directive\u2019s scope includes stablecoins, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), e-money tokens and crypto-assets issued in a \u201cdecentralized manner.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThere will be a mandatory automatic exchange between tax authorities of information which will have to be provided by reporting crypto-asset service providers,\u201d\u00a0 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/press\/press-releases\/2023\/10\/17\/council-adopts-directive-to-boost-cooperation-between-national-taxation-authorities-dac8\/\">said<\/a> the European Council.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The tax rules, also known as the Eighth Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC8), were first presented to the European Commission on Dec. 8, 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The directive will be published in the Official Journal, the European Union\u2019s gazette of legal acts, and enter into effect on the 20th day following publication.<\/li>\n<li>Johanna Store, a press officer for the European Council told <em>Forkast<\/em> that the directive will be published within the next two weeks. The exact publication date has not been set by the time of publishing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The European Council said that DAC8 is meant to complement the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA), the European Union\u2019s legal framework for digital assets regulations.
