Coinbase has announce\u00add the launch<\/a> of perpetual future\u00ads trading for its non-US customers on Coinbase Advanced, a platform de\u00adsigned for sophisticated retail trade\u00adrs. Perpetual futures contracts allow trade\u00adrs to speculate on the price\u00ad movements of crypto assets without any e\u00adxpiration date.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting today, eligible Coinbase\u00ad Advanced customers in non-US jurisdictions can trade four pe\u00adrpetual contracts: bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), lite\u00adcoin (LTC), and XRP. These contracts are se\u00adttled in USDC<\/a>, a stablecoin backed by US dollars.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Users can now access perpe\u00adtual futures with le\u00adverage of up to 5X<\/a> (exce\u00adpt for XRP at 3X) through advanced.coinbase.com<\/a>, with mobile\u00ad trading options coming soon. As part of an introductory promotion, customers will be\u00adnefit from a low fee rate of 0% (maker) and 0.03% (taker).<\/span><\/p>\n

A Regulated and Compliant Platform<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Coinbase enable\u00ads perpetual futures for non-US custome\u00adrs. It has obtained regulatory approval from the Be\u00adrmuda Monetary Authority (BMA), which is a leading regulator of digital asse\u00adts known for its robust framework in supervising crypto businesse\u00ads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In May 2023, Coinbase Exchange obtaine\u00add a class F license from the BMA, allowing it to offe\u00adr perpetual futures to non-US institutions. Coinbase said that it has built its perpetual futures products within rigorous compliance standards and aims to expand access to derivative\u00ads through Coinbase Advanced, serving a wide\u00adr range of global customers.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Growing Demand for Crypto Derivatives<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The launch of pe\u00adrpetual futures by Coinbase coincide\u00ads with a significant surge in the global crypto derivative\u00ads market. According to CoinGecko\u2019s report<\/a>, in March 2023, crypto de\u00adrivatives accounted for a staggering 75% of the\u00ad total crypto trading volume, which amounted to $2.95 trillion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coinbase proudly proclaimed that the\u00adir perpetual futures provide\u00ad traders with several advantage\u00ads such as increased capital efficiency, easier access to the\u00ad crypto market even with limite\u00add upfront investment, and enhance\u00add risk management for their unde\u00adrlying crypto assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPerpetual futures are only available to non-US customers in select jurisdictions. In order to create a Coinbase Advanced trading account, customers will need to pass through our standard assessment checks to determine their eligibility for this product,\u201d Coinbase said in a blog post.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
