Atomic Wallet says it has frozen $2 million worth of crypto on centralized exchanges after hackers plundered more than $100 million from the company\u2019s users in June.<\/p>\n
The non-custodial decentralized wallet company has faced pushback<\/a> online in the months following the hack for remaining vague on the details of the attack, which various crypto researchers have attributed<\/a> to the Lazarus Group, a North Korean hacker collective.<\/p>\n Elliptic, a blockchain analytics and compliance firm, has independently tracked the compromised crypto wallets and\u00a0estimates<\/a>\u00a0that more than $100 million worth of crypto was stolen.<\/p>\n A group of Russian investors also launched a class-action lawsuit against Atomic Wallet in August, claiming the company didn\u2019t give them any information about the hack or report it to the police, according to a report<\/a>.<\/p>\n Atomic Wallet said<\/a> it managed to freeze the $2 million thanks to a \u201cremarkable display of resilience and unity within the crypto community,\u201d though the company didn\u2019t disclose any information about the potential recovery of the $98+ million in stolen crypto that remains looted.<\/p>\n \u201cAtomic Wallet is cooperating with law enforcement agencies in ongoing investigations related to this matter.
