Bitcoin holders profited this week amidst a flurry of <\/span>industry announcements<\/span><\/a>\u2014both real and apocryphal\u2014about the industry\u2019s elusive hunt to get a spot Bitcoin ETF greenlit by the SEC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bitcoin\u2019s price received an intraday boost of 10% on Monday, after crypto publication <\/span>Cointelegraph<\/span><\/i> falsely tweeted that TradFi asset management titan BlackRock had been approved to launch a U.S. Bitcoin spot ETF. Several journalists, including <\/span>Fox<\/span><\/i>\u2019s Eleanor Terrett and <\/span>Bloomberg\u2019s <\/span><\/i>James Seyffart dispelled the rumors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several crypto fans imagined the reactions of SEC Chair Gary Gensler to the whole debacle. Gensler is an avowed crypto skeptic whose \u201cregulation by enforcement\u201d style has been widely called out by the industry, as well as sympathetic lawmakers in Washington.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The technique sees scammers persuade mobile network companies to reassign the victim\u2019s phone number to a SIM card held by the scammer, in order to gain access to their accounts. Looks like crime does pay, sometimes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
