Posts corrected by X\u2019s community-driven fact-checking feature will be \u201cineligible for revenue share,\u201d to stem the flow of misinformation and sensationalism, says Elon Musk. <\/p>\n

In an Oct. 29 X post, the executive chairman said misleading or inaccurate posts \u201ccorrected\u201d by Community Notes \u2014 manned by X\u2019s crowdsourced fact-checkers will not be eligible for revenue share.<\/p>\n

Musk said the change would \u201cmaximize the incentive for accuracy over sensationalism\u201d and claimed any attempted weaponization of the feature would be \u201cimmediately obvious\u201d as the data is open source.<\/p>\n

Any posts that are corrected by @CommunityNotes<\/a> become ineligible for revenue share.<\/p>\n

Finance-focused X account \u201cNot Jerome Powell\u201d said<\/a> Community notes applied to memes \u201cin a funny way\u201d or notes providing context \u201cshould be excluded.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others, however, were supportive of the change. \u201cPay attention to those who vehemently disagree with this,\u201d wrote<\/a> Dogecoin (DOGE) co-creator Billy Markus \u201cIt\u2019s quite literally people who make a lot of money spreading misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

X hasn\u2019t shared the number of accounts eligible for monetization nor who makes up its 100,000 contributors in 44 countries, according to an Oct. 26 post<\/a> from X CEO Linda Yaccarino.<\/p>\n
