Uniswap Labs, which develops the Uniswap<\/a> decentralized exchange, released its Android app to roughly 430,000 users who signed up for a waitlist today.<\/p>\n The release is part of Labs\u2019 broader strategy to acquire non-American users. While iOS, Apple\u2019s mobile operating system, has<\/a> nearly a 58% market share in the U.S., Android devices have over 70% market share worldwide.<\/p>\n \u201cThe demand for an Android app has been really, really loud from our users,\u201d Callil Capuozzo, Uniswap Labs\u2019 VP of design, said in an interview. \u201cWe have a huge global user base who primarily use [the] platform.\u201d<\/p>\n Capuozzo developed Uniswap\u2019s swap interface, which is open source<\/a> and has since inspired countless copies.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The company released<\/a> a beta version of the Android app in October after releasing<\/a> an iOS app in April.<\/p>\n As part of the international thrust, Labs is also upping the number of languages offered in its iOS offering to six \u2014 Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and French will now be offered in addition to English. The Android app will also be available with these languages.<\/p>\n Capuozzo pushes for a broader view of \u201cuser experience,\u201d which he says isn\u2019t just interfaces and protocols. Listing good translations, customer support, and deploying to multiple platforms are also part of good UX, he said.<\/p>\n \u201c\u200b\u200bThe biggest tech companies in the world, Apple and Google, what they’re really good at is building products that more people have access to and can use,\u201d the designer said.<\/p>\n Labs has been making moves which differentiate the company from the underlying protocol.
