As part of the agreement, Voyager will be \u201cpermanently restrained and enjoined\u201d from marketing or providing products or services related to digital assets.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Source: PACER<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Judge Woods, the order will largely not impact proceedings in bankruptcy court, where Voyager <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/voyager-digital-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy-proposes-recovery-plan\">filed for Chapter 11 protection<\/a> in July 2022 and disclosed liabilities ranging from $1 billion to $10 billion. In May, the court <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/voyager-bankruptcy-plan-approved-customers-may-recover-35-7-of-claims-initially\">approved a plan<\/a> allowing Voyager users to receive 35.72% of their claims from the lending firm initially.<\/p>\n<p>Under the settlement, parties associated with Voyager must cooperate with FTC officials, including testimony at hearings, trials and discovery. After a year, Voyager must also report on its compliance with the proceedings, subject to monitoring by the commission.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftc-enhances-investigative-procedures-to-deal-with-ai-related-lawbreaking\"><strong><em>FTC enhances investigative procedures to deal with AI-related lawbreaking<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In October, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the FTC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/cftc-action-former-voyager-digital-ceo\">filed parallel lawsuits<\/a> against former Voyager CEO Stephen Ehrlich, alleging he made misleading statements regarding the use and safety of customer funds. Ehrlich claimed at the time that Voyager\u2019s team \u201cconsistently communicated and worked closely\u201d with regulators, largely denying the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the FTC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/celsius-network-fined-billions-by-ftc\">ordered crypto lending firm Celsius<\/a> to pay $4.7 billion in fees, alleging the company\u2019s co-founders misappropriated user assets and misled investors about the platform\u2019s services.
