During this timeframe, specific deadlines occur at intervals of 45 days, 45 days, 90 days, and 60 days. At each of these milestones, the SEC must file a response either approving, denying, or postponing a decision on the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Franklin Templeton, a traditional finance giant with roughly $1.5 trillion assets under management, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/franklin-templeton-bitcoin-etf\">jumped into the bitcoin ETF race in September<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Franklin Bitcoin ETF proposal was published in the federal register on Oct. 3, and the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/tag\/sec\">SEC<\/a> delayed its decision on the product in a Nov. 15 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/files\/rules\/sro\/cboebzx\/2023\/34-98945_2.pdf\">order<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While another filing related to this proposal wasn\u2019t due until Jan. 1, the Tuesday order signals the SEC might be looking to fast-track the process in preparation for a potential mass ruling on spot bitcoin ETFs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey might have chosen to do this early so they could have the comment period end before Jan 10, in order to approve everyone at the same time,\u201d Van Buren Capital general partner Scott Johnsson said in an X post.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\" \/>\n<p>Jan. 10 is the date by which the SEC is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/sec-decision-date-bitcoin-etf#\">set to rule on a spot bitcoin ETF proposed by Ark Invest and 21Shares<\/a>.
