{"id":208521,"date":"2023-12-08T04:27:47","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T22:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=208521"},"modified":"2023-12-08T04:27:47","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T22:57:47","slug":"181034960000-in-fines-paid-by-big-four-us-banks-as-jpmorgan-ceo-jamie-dimon-says-cryptos-for-criminals-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/181034960000-in-fines-paid-by-big-four-us-banks-as-jpmorgan-ceo-jamie-dimon-says-cryptos-for-criminals-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"$181,034,960,000 in Fines Paid by Big Four US Banks As JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon Says Crypto\u2019s for \u2018Criminals\u2019 &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Hundreds of billions of dollars worth of fines have been paid by the four biggest banks in the US as JPMorgan\u2019s chief executive sounds off against digital assets, saying they are for criminals.<\/p>\n<p>According to corporate misconduct data aggregator Violation Tracker, the big four banks of the US \u2013 Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and JPMorgan \u2013 have paid a staggering $181 billion worth of fines since the year 2000.<\/p>\n<p>The data unveils that Bank of America has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org\/parent\/bank-of-america\">paid<\/a> a total of 324 fines worth $87.2 billion since the start of the millennium while Wells Fargo has been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org\/parent\/wells-fargo\">fined<\/a> 261 times for a total of $27.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Violation Tracker also reveals that Citigroup was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org\/parent\/citigroup\">found<\/a> to be in violation 181 times, paying $26.9 billion worth of fines while JPMorgan has been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org\/parent\/jpmorgan-chase\">hit with<\/a> a total of 272 fines worth $39.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oHaDjnQGn78\">tells<\/a> Congress during a recent meeting that crypto assets are tools for bad actors that he would shut down if he could.<\/p>\n<p>As stated by Dimon, per CNBC,<\/p>\n<p><em> \u201cI\u201dve always been deeply opposed to crypto. Bitcoin, etc. You pointed out the only true use case for it is criminals \u2013 drug traffickers, money laundering, tax avoidance, and that is a use case because it is somewhat anonymous, not fully, and because you can move money instantaneously. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And because it doesn\u2019t go all these systems [that] have built up over many years \u2013 know your customer (KYC), sanctions, OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control) \u2013 they can bypass all of that.
