In a news of concern for Apple Watch users, Apple will not repair out-of-warranty models from Apple Watch Series 6 onwards, the company revealed in a memo written to its customer services team this week, reported Bloomberg. The new changes mean that Apple will not be able to repair hardware issues on older iPhones while the company will still be able to assist the users with software-related issues.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
The Bloomberg report also noted that Apple employees were told earlier this week that they can’t inform customers about the availability of Apple Watch at third-party retailers like Best Buy and Target owing to the legal order. The Cupertino-based tech giant will not be allowed to import more watches until the prohibitory order by the International Trade Commission is lifted but these Apple Watches are expected to be available at these retail outlets until the supply in US runs out.<\/p>\n
US-based International Trade Commission has ruled that Apple violated two health-technology patents related to blood oxygen sensing held by medical technology company Masimo Corp. The ban is set to set to be imposed from December 25 and will affect the newer versions of the Apple Watches which have been sold since 2020 including Apple Watch Series 6, 7, 8, Ultra and Ultra 2. However, the Apple Watch SE which does not come with the blood oxygen feature and older Apple Watches are exempt from the order by ITC.<\/p>\n
The Apple Watch ban will continue to be prohibited by the ITC order until the Cupertino-based tech giant reaches a deal with Masimo or gets relief from the federal government. In the meantime, the Bloomberg report also notes that Apple is working on a software update which it believes will fix the issue.<\/p>\n
