{"id":226657,"date":"2024-01-10T02:39:42","date_gmt":"2024-01-09T21:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=226657"},"modified":"2024-01-10T02:39:42","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T21:09:42","slug":"fox-launches-protocol-for-content-verification-on-polygon-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/fox-launches-protocol-for-content-verification-on-polygon-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Fox Launches Protocol for Content Verification on Polygon &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>89,000 pieces of content have been registered so far.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Fox Corp. today announced the beta release of an open-source protocol built on the Polygon proof-of-stake network, to help media companies prove the provenance of content.<\/p>\n<p>The protocol, called Verify, will allow publishers to register content on-chain, in order to prove origination, according to its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.verifymedia.com\/\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVerify shows how blockchains are important outside of financial use cases: they can prove provenance, track the origination of content online,\u201d Polygon Labs CEO Mark Boiron <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/0xMarcB\/status\/1744738026423734533\">said<\/a> on X. \u201cGiven the natural fit of blockchains with content provenance with the rise of AI, I\u2019m excited to see Polygon protocols again being used at the forefront of another new use case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When a user verifies a piece of content with Verify, they cryptographically sign with their private key. The verifier can also add metadata like the location, device, or person, associated with a piece of content.<\/p>\n<p><!--$!--><!--\/$--><\/p>\n<h2>Content Ownership <\/h2>\n<p>This doesn\u2019t prove ownership in itself, but it does allow for \u201cpublic dispute and interrogation of content metadata,\u201d says Verify\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.verifymedia.com\/\">documentation<\/a>. After verification, the user can designate access to content through smart contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The development signals that media companies consider the blockchain a worthwhile medium to combat the explosion of AI-generated content which spread across the internet in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Verify isn\u2019t the first time Fox has dedicated resources to blockchain-native experiences \u2014 a subsidiary, Fox Animated Series, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/krapopolis-to-premiere-in-september-with-nfts-and-fan-voting\">released<\/a> a TV show last fall which came with NFT and voting components. The media conglomerate has also been delving into AI with RabbitAI, a GPT-4-powered mobile feature for finding content, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxcorporation.com\/news\/business\/2023\/find-your-next-obsession-with-tubis-new-gpt-4-powered-content-discovery-feature\/\">launching<\/a> last September.<\/p>\n<p>So far, 89,000 pieces of content have been registered, according to a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/polygon.technology\/blog\/fox-corporation-taps-polygon-pos-to-power-verify-an-open-protocol-for-content-and-image-verification?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_content=fox-blog\">press release<\/a> from Polygon<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>89,000 pieces of content have been registered so far.
