Mantle v2 is built on top of Optimism\u2019s OP Stack, paving the way for future compatibility within the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/surging-optimism-ecosystem-drives-layer-2-tvl-to-new-heights\">OP Superchain<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 the forthcoming unified ecosystem of Layer 2 networks leveraging the OP Stack. Optimism launched the open-source OP Stack alongside its\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/optimism-deploys-bedrock-upgrade\">Bedrock upgrade<\/a>\u00a0in June 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn contrast to Mantle v1 built on the old OVM codebase, Mantle v2 enjoys the benefits of the Bedrock upgrade, while providing the critical infrastructure for future interoperability in the OP Stack ecosystem,\u201d Mantle said.<\/p>\n<p>Other OP Stack-based chains include OP Mainnet, Base, Manta, and the BNB Chain Layer 2,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/opbnb-leads-superchain-adoption-while-base-and-optimism-lag\">opBNB<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--$!--><!--\/$--><\/p>\n<p>Mantle v2 will also facilitate gasless transactions in addition to transactions supporting\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/its-almost-like-eip-1559-fixes-an\">EIP-1559<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Mantle storms L2 rankings<\/h2>\n<p>Mantle completed its alpha mainnet launch in July 2023, and has recently emerged as a front-running Layer 2 scaling solution. Mantle aims to offer cheaper transactions compared to rival L2s thanks to its modular architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The network utilizes Mantle DA, a decentralized data availability layer powered by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kIeb66t59ng\">EigenLayer<\/a>&#8216;s EigenDA, to minimize fees. Mantle also boasts separate execution and consensus layers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis enables hyperscaled performance at significantly reduced transaction fees on a network that is secured by Ethereum,\u201d Mantle said.<\/p>\n<p>Mantle currently ranks as the top Layer 2 network by daily throughput, processing an average of 16.8 transactions per second (TPS) over the past 24 hours, according to L2beat.<\/p>\n<p>Mantle processed a record high of 25.5 TPS on Dec. 27 amid the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/mantle-s-throughput-peaks-at-200-tps-as-inscriptions-expand-across-layer-2s\">launch of inscriptions<\/a>\u00a0on the network.
