Ethereum (ETH<\/a>) co-founder Vitalik Buterin thinks artificial intelligence (AI) could \u201csignificantly\u201d help the top smart contract platform.<\/p>\n Buterin says<\/a> on the social media platform X he\u2019s excited about the potential for AI-assisted formal verification of code and bug finding.<\/p>\n \u201cRight now Ethereum\u2019s biggest technical risk probably is bugs in code, and anything that could significantly change the game on that would be amazing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The famous Ethereum co-founder says<\/a> he\u2019s also excited about Verkle Trees, a data structure that can be used to upgrade Ethereum nodes.<\/p>\n \u201cThey will enable stateless validator clients, which can allow staking nodes to run with near-zero hard disk space and sync nearly instantly \u2013 far better solo staking UX (user experience). Also good for user-facing light clients.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Verkle trees are designed to reduce the minimum hardware requirements for running an Ethereum node, which will improve the project\u2019s decentralization, according to the upgrade\u2019s website<\/a>. The website also notes that the trees will unlock new types of functionality and could have some potential scaling benefits.<\/p>\n Ethereum.org notes<\/a> that Verkle tree testnets are currently up and running but require substantial updates to clients that are still outstanding.<\/p>\n ETH is trading at $2,916 at time of writing.
