Bank of Japan Executive Director Seiichi Shimizu made some comments on the central bank\u2019s inflation target, in his speech following the Japanese Consumer Price Index (CPI) released on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Shimizu said that the \u201clikelihood of inflation target achievement is still not sufficiently high.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BoJ<\/a> will review its massive monetary easing when it can foresee the achievement of inflation target confidently, and it will “rigorously” check wage trends along with price data,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

At the press time, USD\/JPY<\/a> is keeping its sideway momentum intact near 150.50, down 0.04% on the day.<\/p>\n

The BoJ\u2019s stance of sticking to ultra-loose monetary policy has led to a widening policy divergence with other central banks, particularly with the US Federal Reserve. This supports a widening of the differential between the 10-year US and Japanese bonds, which favors the US Dollar against the Japanese Yen.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

This means that in times of market stress, investors are more likely to put their money in the Japanese currency due to its supposed reliability and stability.
