Donald Trump, the former president and presumptive Republican nominee in 2024, is signaling his support of digital assets.<\/p>\n
In a new CNBC interview, Trump indicated<\/a> if he were elected president again he would not crack down on the use of Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) and other cryptocurrencies through increased regulations.<\/p>\n According to Trump, the use of digital assets is becoming more prevalent, such as to make purchases, making him more inclined to support crypto \u2013 despite his preference for the US dollar.<\/p>\n When he launched<\/a> his \u201cNever Surrender\u201d golden high-top sneakers, Trump says he was surprised at how many were sold to consumers paying in crypto.<\/p>\n Says Trump,<\/p>\n \u201cI do little things sometimes for fun and you know, make money with it, but I have fun with it too\u2026 sometimes we\u2019ll let people pay through Bitcoin. If you think of it, it\u2019s an additional form of currency. And I used to say I want one currency. I want the dollar. I don\u2019t want people leaving the dollar. I feel that way. But I will tell you, [crypto] has taken on a life [of its own].<\/em><\/p>\n I did a thing that people smile at but it was wild. We did 1,000 sneakers, so a limited edition sneaker run, and you could go through our crazy new currencies because that\u2019s what I call them. They\u2019re crazy whether it\u2019s Bitcoin or others. And so many people were buying these things. Ultimately, the last pair of sneakers sold for approximately, I hear, $450,000\u2026 So it just took off, and I noticed that so many of them were paid for with the new currency, cryptocurrency, and I couldn\u2019t believe the amount.<\/em><\/p>\n People are using it\u2026 There has been a lot of use of that.
