{"id":280786,"date":"2024-04-10T14:25:33","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T08:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=280786"},"modified":"2024-04-10T14:25:33","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T08:55:33","slug":"eur-usd-flip-flops-in-a-range-prior-to-us-cpi-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/eur-usd-flip-flops-in-a-range-prior-to-us-cpi-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"EUR\/USD flip-flops in a range prior to US CPI &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"fxs_article_content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EUR\/USD is trading in a narrow range ahead of the US Consumer Price Index data for March.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The pair is trading in a space between the 50, 100 and 200-day Simple Moving Averages.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The ECB meeting on Thursday is likely to bring volatility to EUR\/USD.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EUR\/USD is trading in the 1.0850s on Wednesday, little changed from the previous day\u2019s close as traders await key macroeconomic data from the US in the form of the Consumer <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/economic-calendar\/united-states\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">Price Index<\/a> (CPI) for March, which will be released at the start of the US session.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">EUR\/USD could breakout after CPI data\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>EUR\/USD could see a lift in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/technical-analysis\/volatility\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">volatility<\/a> from the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/news\/us-cpi-data-preview-headline-inflation-seen-picking-up-in-march-core-to-decline-202404100300\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">CPI<\/a> data if it deviates significantly from expectations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Economists estimate that the data will show prices in the US to have risen by 3.4% Year-over-Year in March and 3.7% YoY for core goods, which excludes volatile food and energy prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Results in line with expectations would still indicate an inflation rate well above the Federal Reserve\u2019s (Fed) 2.0% target. A greater decline would be required before the Fed is likely to bring down interest rates from their current 5.5% level.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/macroeconomics\/central-banks\/fed\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">Fed<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/macroeconomics\/central-banks\/ecb\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">the European Central Bank (ECB)<\/a> is seen as more likely to cut interest rates earlier amid more subdued growth and inflation expectations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For EUR\/USD, the maintenance of higher interest rates in the US compared to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/economic-calendar\/country\/c9822cb1-6cee-45f4-a9a2-89d136990308\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">Eurozone<\/a> is a bearish factor. This is because relatively higher interest attracts foreign capital inflows, favoring the US Dollar in this case.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">ECB meeting on the horizon<\/h2>\n<p>EUR\/USD could experience further volatility on Thursday after the European Central Bank (ECB) holds its April policy meeting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A few ECB members, such as the President of the Banque de France, Fran\u00e7ois Villeroy de Galhau have mentioned April as a possible time for the ECB to implement a first interest-rate cut.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The majority of ECB members, however, think April is too early because the ECB will not yet have the latest wage data at hand, and wage inflation is seen as a critical input into their inflation models and decision-making process.<\/p>\n<p>EUR\/USD, however, could still be moved if the language in the accompanying statement suggests a higher probability of the ECB making an interest-rate cut in June.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">Technical Analysis: EUR\/USD increasingly looking range-bound<\/h2>\n<p>EUR\/USD appears trapped within the pincers of three significant Simple Moving Averages (SMA). It seems to be in an overall sideways trend on the 4-hour short-term chart.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 50-day and 200-day SMAs are providing support at 1.0830 and 1.0831, while the 100-day SMA is acting as a resistance at 1.0873.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/currencies\/eurusd\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">EUR\/USD<\/a> Daily <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/rates-charts\/chart\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">Chart<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/editorial.fxstreet.com\/miscelaneous\/_EUR_USD_2024-04-10_08-44-40-638483351480490447.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A decisive break above the 100-day SMA could see a rally to perhaps the March 21 high at 1.0942.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, a decisive break below the cluster of MAs in the 1,0830s might see a\u00a0 pullback evolve down to support at the April 2 swing lows of 1.0725.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A decisive break below would be characterized by a long red candle penetrating and closing near its low, or three red candles in a row, piercing through the level.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The same would be the case for a decisive break above, except with green candles rather than red.<\/p>\n<div class=\"module_calendar_event_cke post-module\">\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-wrapper\" data-config-topic=\"431c738f-a8d6-4e3c-a37f-f47fc0bbd003\" data-content-module-translate=\"1\" data-module=\"event\" data-type=\"event\" data-version=\"v1\" id=\"content-module-event-431c738f-a8d6-4e3c-a37f-f47fc0bbd003-723\">\n<h2 class=\"fxs-event-module-title\">Economic Indicator<\/h2>\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-inner-calendar\">\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-calendar-title-description-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"fxs-event-module-calendar-title\">Consumer Price Index (YoY)<\/h3>\n<p class=\"fxs-event-module-content\">Inflationary or deflationary tendencies are measured by periodically summing the prices of a basket of representative goods and services and presenting the data as The Consumer Price Index (CPI). CPI data is compiled on a monthly basis and released by the US Department of Labor Statistics. The YoY reading compares the prices of goods in the reference month to the same month a year earlier.The CPI is a key indicator to measure inflation and changes in purchasing trends.
