After rising over 1.5% in the previous week and touching its highest level since early November, the USD Index stays in a consolidation phase at around 106.00 early Monday. NY Empire State Manufacturing Index and Retail Sales data will be featured in the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/economic-calendar\/united-states\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">US economic docket<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, Iran launched an assault with dozens of drones\u00a0in retaliation to the suspected Israeli attack on Iran\u2019s consulate in Damascus on 1 April. &#8220;Iran, if necessary, will not hesitate to take further defensive measures to safeguard its legitimate interests against any military aggressions and unlawful use of force,&#8221; the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The pair seems to have stabilized at around 1.0650 in the early European session. Eurostat will release Industrial Production data for February later in the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GBP\/USD<\/strong> lost 1.5% last week and registered its largest one-week decline since July. The pair stays relatively quiet below 1.2500 on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki repeated on Monday that he is \u201cwatching FX moves closely,&#8221; adding that he wants to be fully-prepared when asked about the broad Yen weakness. <strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/currencies\/usdjpy\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\">USD\/JPY<\/a><\/strong> closed the previous week decisively higher and continued to push higher early Monday. In a \u201crisk-off\u201d market, Bonds go up \u2013 especially major government Bonds \u2013 Gold shines, and safe-haven currencies such as the Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc and US Dollar all benefit.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"fxs-faq-module-section\">\n<p class=\"fxs-faq-module-content\">The Australian Dollar (AUD), the Canadian Dollar (CAD), the New Zealand Dollar (NZD) and minor FX like the Ruble (RUB) and the South African Rand (ZAR), all tend to rise in markets that are \u201crisk-on\u201d. This is because the economies of these currencies are heavily reliant on commodity exports for growth, and commodities tend to rise in price during risk-on periods.
