One US state\u00a0is revealing\u00a0large\u00a0holdings in two significant Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) trusts.<\/p>\n New\u00a013-F Filings<\/a>\u00a0with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveal that The State of Wisconsin Investment Board has BTC exchange-traded fund (ETF) holdings with\u00a0Blackrock\u2019s\u00a0iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and\u00a0Grayscale\u2019s\u00a0Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) totaling near $163 million.<\/p>\n IBIT and GBTC are the top two Bitcoin-based ETFs by trading volume.<\/p>\n The State of Wisconsin Investment Board is a state agency managing investments for public retirement and trust funds. It has diversified investments, including cryptocurrency, Coinbase, Marathon Digital, Riot Platforms, Block, Cipher Mining, Cleanspark, Microstrategy and other traditional financial vehicles.<\/p>\n The investment was made before March 15, 2024, which is the deadline for institutional investors to disclose their Q1 holdings.<\/p>\n Says senior Bloomberg ETF analyst\u00a0Eric Balchunas<\/a>\u00a0of the recent revelation,<\/p>\n \u201cWow, a state pension bought IBIT in first quarter. Normally\u00a0you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0get these big fish institutions in the 13Fs for a year or so (when the ETF gets more liquidity)\u00a0but\u00a0as\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0seen\u00a0these are no ordinary launches.
