A former Pump.fun employee was arrested and released on bail in relation to a recent hack that stole $1.9M from the platform.<\/p>\n
A Twitter user has claimed responsibility for the May 16 exploit that stole $1.9 million from Pump.fun, the surging memecoin launchpad.<\/p>\n
On May 18,\u00a0JarrettDunn, an X (formerly Twitter) account, tweeted they had spent a night in custody after being arrested by United Kingdom police in connection to last week\u2019s\u00a0exploit<\/a>\u00a0that resulted in roughly $1.9 million worth of SOL being stolen from Pump.fun.<\/p>\n Dunn identified themselves as a disgruntled former employee of Pump.fun, arguing that the platform is operating in violation of U.K. law. Dunn also claimed that Pump.fun\u00a0is planning to distribute an airdrop worth $80 million to early users.<\/p>\n \u201cI spent overnight in custody as the pump team alleges I stole 2m of their\u00a0Ill gotten\u00a0gains with conspiracy to steal another 80m,\u201d Dunn\u00a0tweeted<\/a>. \u201cWhen I return to the station after my bail I will argue with the crown that Pump is guilty of far more heinous shit. Do you believe they are more guilty of the\u00a0uk\u00a0equivalent of running an unregistered securities exchange, or a gambling site with no license,\u00a0kyc, or\u00a0aml?\u201d<\/p>\n On May 16, a different Twitter user also claiming to be Dunn appeared to\u00a0claim<\/a>\u00a0responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n The bizarre tweets come after Pump.fun\u00a0published a May 17\u00a0post-mortem<\/a>\u00a0attributing the attack to a \u201cformer employee.\u201d The platform also\u00a0tweeted<\/a>\u00a0that it was cooperating with law enforcement on the day of the hack.<\/p>\n The incident follows Pump.fun\u00a0enjoying meteoric growth since launching in January.
