{"id":309084,"date":"2024-05-24T21:35:37","date_gmt":"2024-05-24T16:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=309084"},"modified":"2024-05-24T21:35:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T16:05:37","slug":"mexican-peso-recovers-after-turnaround-in-risk-appetite-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/mexican-peso-recovers-after-turnaround-in-risk-appetite-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexican Peso recovers after turnaround in risk appetite &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"fxs_article_content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Mexican Peso reverses earlier loses after risk appetite improves.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Peso fell against the US Dollar after strong US economic data strengthened the buck on Thursday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>USD\/MXN could be in a new short-term uptrend after breaking above a trendline.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Mexican Peso (MXN) recovers after a weak start on Friday following a turnaround in risk sentiment that supports\u00a0the Peso, a so-called &#8220;risk-on&#8221; currency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MXN recently weakened against the US Dollar, threatening to reverse the Peso\u2019s short-term trend, after a slew of positive economic data from the US further delayed the time the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/macroeconomics\/central-banks\/fed\">Federal Reserve<\/a> (Fed) is expected to lower interest rates, supporting the Greenback.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Mexican trade balance showed a wider-than-expected 3.746 billion deficit in April according to data from INEGI released on Friday. This was lower than the previous month&#8217;s surplus of 2.098B and the 0.8B deficit forecast by economists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">Mexican Peso: Bank of Mexico releases meeting Minutes<\/h2>\n<p>Mexican data released on Thursday mostly came out in line with estimates, but the Q1 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-fxs-autoanchor=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fxstreet.com\/economic-calendar\">Gross Domestic Product<\/a> (GDP) showed a surprise upward revision to 0.3% on a quarter-on-quarter basis compared to the 0.2% previous estimate. This temporarily boosted the Mexican Peso in its pairs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The release of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) May meeting <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.banxico.org.mx\/publications-and-press\/minutes-of-the-board-of-governors-meetings-regardi\/%7BAFCF16A6-D71C-D6F7-15C3-55D3EAD20805%7D.pdf\">Minutes<\/a> showed most policymakers continued to see upside risks to inflation despite data showing core inflation continuing to decline. Persistent inflation in the Services sector was seen as a key stumbling block to inflation falling to Banxico\u2019s 3.0% target.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Minutes showed the decision to keep interest rates at 11.00% was unanimous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In its concluding statements, Banxico\u2019s Governing Board said: \u201cchallenges and risks prevail, which requires monetary policy to continue being managed prudently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adding, \u201cWith this decision, the monetary policy stance remains restrictive and will continue being conducive to the convergence of inflation to the 3% target in the forecast horizon.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">Technical Analysis: USD\/MXN breaks above trendline and continues rising<\/h2>\n<p>USD\/MXN \u2013 or the number of Pesos that can be bought with one US Dollar \u2013 rises after breaking above the trendline for the April-May decline. This could possible indicate the pair is now in a short-term uptrend, favoring long positions over shorts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fxs_headline_medium\">USD\/MXN 4-hour Chart\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/editorial.fxstreet.com\/miscelaneous\/_USD_MXN_2024-05-24_12-42-05-638521472268174477.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A break above Thursday\u2019s high at 16.76 would confirm a continuation of the young uptrend to a possible target at the previous range lows around 16.85.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Given the medium and long-term trends are bearish, however, there remains a high risk of the short-term trend reversing and the pair continuing lower.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A decisive break below the grey trendline for the up move at roughly 16.68 would bring the short-term uptrend into doubt and possibly signal the resumption of more downside.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"module_calendar_event_cke post-module\">\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-wrapper\" data-config-topic=\"3835fe9a-e040-4941-ba99-47ee9bdff3f7\" data-content-module-translate=\"1\" data-module=\"event\" data-type=\"event\" data-version=\"v1\" id=\"content-module-event-3835fe9a-e040-4941-ba99-47ee9bdff3f7-10\">\n<h2 class=\"fxs-event-module-title\">Economic Indicator<\/h2>\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-inner-calendar\">\n<div class=\"fxs-event-module-calendar-title-description-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"fxs-event-module-calendar-title\">Gross Domestic Product (QoQ)<\/h3>\n<p class=\"fxs-event-module-content\">The Gross Domestic Product released by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.inegi.org.mx\">INEGI<\/a> is a measure of the total value of all goods and services produced by Mexico.
