Caitlyn Jenner, a former athlete and media personality, has found herself at the center of a heated controversy after her X (formerly Twitter) account promoted a cryptocurrency via the token launchpad Pump.fun.<\/p>\n
On Sunday afternoon,\u00a0Jenner\u2019s\u00a0X account posted a link to a Solana-based token called\u00a0JENNER<\/a>\u00a0featuring the\u00a0caption<\/a>\u00a0\u201cmake America great again and we love crypto,\u201d\u00a0alongside a photo of her with former U.S. President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n This\u00a0left the crypto community bewildered and\u00a0questioning\u00a0<\/a>the legitimacy of the post.<\/p>\n Despite the doubts, the token quickly gained traction, generating $28.3 million\u00a0worth of\u00a0volume in 90 minutes to reach a market cap of $8.5 million.<\/p>\n Addressing the skepticism,\u00a0Jenner’s\u00a0account denied any hacking in subsequent tweets.\u00a0\u201cNothing has\u00a0been hacked,\u201d\u00a0she said. A follow-up video reiterated that the token was\u00a0\u201cfor real.\u201d<\/p>\n On the same day, Trump\u00a0expressed\u00a0<\/a>his strong support for\u00a0cryptocurrency on Truth Social, stating he is\u00a0\u201cvery positive and open-minded to cryptocurrency companies and all things related to this new and burgeoning industry.\u201d<\/p>\n Many X users suggested\u00a0Jenner’s\u00a0social media had\u00a0been compromised, speculating that the video might have\u00a0been created\u00a0using AI technology.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is NOT Caitlyn Jenner, and this is AI,\u201d\u00a0tweeted<\/a>\u00a0X\u00a0user, @Captl_G<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cLook at the eyebrow movement. You are being baited into the most iconic rugpulls to hit SOL.\u201d<\/p>\n Another user,\u00a0@cyborgnfts<\/a>, echoed the concern, tweeting,\u00a0\u201cAI is getting scary.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0token\u2019s\u00a0launch followed the X account of the prominent crypto influencer, Gigantic Rebirth (GCR), getting\u00a0hacked<\/a>\u00a0on May 26.\u00a0GCR\u2019s\u00a0account was\u00a0commandeered\u00a0to\u00a0promote<\/a>\u00a0the ORDI and LUNA2 tokens, only to achieve a measly 10% wick on ORDI.<\/p>\n However, crypto influencer CryptoRoxo suggested that the JENNER token likely did come from\u00a0Jenner\u2019s circle,\u00a0but speculated the token was concocted by a shady\u00a0“middleman.”<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u00a0was never hacked,\u201d\u00a0CryptoRoxo\u00a0claimed<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cHer team was socially engineered by a guy named Sahil. He acted as the\u00a0‘middleman’\u00a0to launch the token for Caitlyn since the team was unfamiliar with crypto.\u201d<\/p>\n The crypto influencer Roxo alleged that after facilitating the token launch and securing\u00a0Jenner’s\u00a0promotion, Sahil immediately sold off\u00a0all tokens Jenner\u2019s\u00a0entire stash of tokens, which Sahil held on her behalf.<\/p>\n \u201cCaitlyn’s\u00a0manager seems clueless.
