{"id":322136,"date":"2024-06-12T23:23:03","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T17:53:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=322136"},"modified":"2024-06-12T23:23:03","modified_gmt":"2024-06-12T17:53:03","slug":"crypto-exchange-okx-sees-204000000-in-outflows-following-reports-of-security-incidents-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/crypto-exchange-okx-sees-204000000-in-outflows-following-reports-of-security-incidents-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Crypto Exchange OKX Sees $204,000,000 in Outflows Following Reports of Security Incidents &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Global cryptocurrency exchange OKX is witnessing a massive outflow amid reports of a security breach, according to the decentralized finance (DeFi) data aggregator DefiLlama.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/cexs\">Per<\/a> DefiLlama approximately $204.67 million in crypto assets has exited OKX over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past seven days, OKX has recorded outflows amounting to $633.88 million.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s largest crypto exchange by volumes, Binance, has meanwhile recorded inflows of $128.51 million in a 24-hour period and inflows of $1.364 billion over the past seven days, per the DeFi data aggregator.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_190710\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-190710\" style=\"width: 1063px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-190710\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: DeFiLlama<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Citing blockchain security firm SlowMist, Asia-focused journalist Colin Wu <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WuBlockchain\/status\/1799715182446620695\">says<\/a> that the security breach on OKX was conducted through SIM hijacking \u2013 a type of fraud where attackers manipulate a carrier to transfer the cell phone number of a target to themselves in order to receive the target\u2019s calls or text messages necessary for two-factor authentication on online accounts.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cAccording to Slowmist, two OKX accounts were stolen this morning, and hackers created new Application programming interface (API) Keys with trading and withdrawal permissions. None of the victims used Google Authenticator, but instead used SMS or email verification.
