{"id":330520,"date":"2024-06-25T10:15:34","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T04:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/?p=330520"},"modified":"2024-06-25T10:15:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T04:45:34","slug":"how-this-bitcoin-bull-market-stacks-up-against-the-others-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/how-this-bitcoin-bull-market-stacks-up-against-the-others-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"How this bitcoin bull market stacks up against the others &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>If you believe in big fractal energy, the next few months will be totally decisive for bitcoin\u2019s price.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For all we know, bitcoin\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/bitcoin-all-time-high\">all-time high of nearly $73,740<\/a> in March was the peak of our current cycle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That would mean the bull market is over. Bitcoin and ether trading 5% lower today \u2014 sending practically everything else except stablecoins into the red \u2014 surely isn\u2019t helping sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>But the problem with markets is that you never really know when they\u2019ve topped out.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, bitcoin\u2019s all-time high in December 2017 was clearly the top for the next three years, even if altcoins continued to rally for another few weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/empire-newsletter-summer-market-madness\">Empire Newsletter: Market madness arrives just in time for summer<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And in March 2021, when bitcoin cleared $61,000 for the first time, it wasn\u2019t set in stone that bitcoin would smash that by another 13% by November \u2014 only eight months later \u2014 after retracing by nearly half.<\/p>\n<p>At some point, it became obvious that the bull market had run its course. Bears may have called it earlier than the bulls, but either way, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/tag\/terraform-labs\">Terra<\/a> implosion in the following May and the cascading liquidations and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/ftx-comparison-crypto-bankruptcies\">bankruptcies that followed<\/a> were really the nails.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/terraform-agrees-to-pay-proposed-judgment-sec\">Terraform agrees to pay nearly $4.5B in proposed judgment with SEC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to prices, all we can really do is look backward. It\u2019s been 585 days (~20 months) since bitcoin bottomed out in November 2022, which for convenience\u2019s sake, we\u2019ll call the start of our current bull market.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-flourish wp-block-embed-flourish\">\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>This chart plots bull markets against each other. So far, so good.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Using that very basic definition, the previous two bull markets hit their peaks after ~840 and 1,060 days. So, if we\u2019re destined to repeat those periods \u2014 a big if \u2014 then we\u2019re solidly in the second half of our cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin had, at this point in the past two seasons, gone 6x and 3x. Bitcoin has so far posted 4x returns since the bottom, even after the recent dip, placing it in the middle of its most recent bull markets.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s <em>if<\/em> bitcoin is still in a bull market. If bitcoin actually topped out in March, then this would\u2019ve been the shortest bull cycle on record, not counting its first year of price discovery.<\/p>\n<p>In the past two bull markets, most of bitcoin\u2019s gains occurred over the following 200 days, going as much as 20x and 100x on their respective bottoms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We know that returns are <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/bitcoin-halving-cycle-returns\">diminishing every cycle<\/a> \u2014 so whatever bitcoin does from here may not be quite as explosive. That might have crypto investors itching for big profits elsewhere. Historically, altcoin seasons have helped bridge the gap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But as is now well-documented, there has been no <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/tag\/altcoins\">altcoin<\/a> season so far this cycle, at least not in the same sense as previous periods.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Building on the definition <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blockworks.co\/news\/empire-newsletter-bitcoin-etf-shareholders\">outlined in a previous edition<\/a> of the Empire newsletter, there have been three distinct altcoin seasons over the past seven years.
