In an interview with PYMNTS, <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dane-k-mathews-6510581\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dane Mathews<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the brand\u2019s chief digital and technology officer, noted that the restaurant\u2019s latest move to bring back its <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tacobell.com\/newsroom\/taco-bell-brings-back-nacho-fries-lovers-pass-and-debuts-jalapeno-ranch-nacho-fries\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nacho Fries Lover\u2019s Pass<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> follows the brand\u2019s success with its last run of the program in bringing in unique <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/subscriptions\/2023\/taco-bell-launches-nacho-fry-subscription-as-restaurants-tap-memberships\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">subscribers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe user engagement with this pass [in November] was similar to other passes we have run,\u201d Matthews said. \u201cHowever, the data point that surprised us the most was that there was minimal overlap between Taco Lover\u2019s Pass and Nacho Fries Lover\u2019s Pass purchasers in 2023 at only 12%.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The trend confirms the brand\u2019s strategy of providing a \u201cunique digital experience\u201d for different kinds of customers depending on their preferences, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Overall, demand for restaurant subscriptions is relatively low, but those who seek out these programs tend to be eateries\u2019 highest-value customers. The PYMNTS Intelligence report \u201c<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/digital-divide-QSR-loyalty-rewards-restaurant-subscriptions\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Digital Divide: Restaurant Subscribers and Loyalty Programs<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201d revealed that only 17% of consumers are <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very or extremely<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> interested in being provided a restaurant subscription service<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, while<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> 58% are slightly interested or not interested <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">at all<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in participating. Yet 78% of restaurant subscribers and 73% of those interested in subscriptions said they are <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very or extremely<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> loyal toward their preferred QSRs<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, while<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> only 41% of those who were uninterested in subscriptions said the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The short-term run of Taco Bell\u2019s subscriptions may be a key advantage, as food and beverage subscriptions face disproportionately high churn, per PYMNTS Intelligence in the report \u201c<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/subscription-commerce-readiness-retail-product-subscribers\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Subscription Commerce Readiness Report: Bridging the Gap Between Subscription Conversion and Retention<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For the Nacho Lover\u2019s Pass specifically, Taco Bell has seen the advantages of offering the program for an item <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> typically consumed as a side dish in terms of driving sales in other parts of the menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe \u2026 noticed that the average redemption check was higher than previous pass iterations, likely due to Nacho Fries being a great side,\u201d Matthews observed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The value-focused offering is especially key now, as restaurants deal with diners\u2019 ongoing price sensitivity. Consumers tend to overestimate <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/restaurant-innovation\/2023\/consumers-think-restaurant-prices-3x-higher-than-inflation-and-want-discounts\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">restaurant inflation<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and it is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> affecting their ordering behaviors.
