A subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange wants to convert Grayscale\u2019s XRP<\/a> Trust into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF).<\/p>\n The ETF and securities exchange NYSE Arca filed<\/a> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to propose the rule change.<\/p>\n Grayscale, a crypto asset manager, believes converting the trust into an ETF \u201cwould provide other investors with a way to invest in XRP on a regulated national securities exchange,\u201d according to NYSE Arca\u2019s filing.<\/p>\n The XRP trust has nearly $16.2 million<\/a> worth of assets under management (AUM) at time of writing.<\/p>\n Grayscale isn\u2019t the first firm to make a bid for an XRP ETF: Bitwise Asset Management, the largest digital asset index fund manager in the US,\u00a0filed<\/a> an initial registration statement for the product in October, and the crypto ETF provider 21Shares followed suit<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n The SEC greenlit the first spot market Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) ETFs last January, bringing in billions of dollars worth of inflows to the top digital asset by market cap.<\/p>\n The regulator subsequently approved<\/a>\u00a0Ethereum (ETH<\/a>) ETFs for trading in July, and multiple firms, including 21Shares,\u00a0applied<\/a>\u00a0for Solana (SOL<\/a>) exchange-traded products over the summer.
