Independent experts at the University of Calgary and the University of California, Berkeley, later confirmed the connection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-3\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>The discovery has reignited fears about the security of user data, as <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"manualbacklink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/tech-news\/sundar-pichai-says-deepseek-is-doing-very-good-work-explains-why-gemini-has-the-edge-11738729530050.html\">DeepSeek\u2019s privacy policy <\/a>already states that user information is stored on servers within China. The link to China Mobile raises further concerns that the chatbot could serve as an intelligence-gathering tool for the Chinese government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-4\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>While Feroot\u2019s researchers found no direct evidence of data being transmitted to China Mobile during login attempts in North America, they noted that such transmissions could still be occurring for certain users or under specific circumstances. Ivan Tsarynny, CEO of Feroot, highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, \u201cIt\u2019s mindboggling that we are unknowingly allowing China to survey Americans and we\u2019re doing nothing about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-9\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>Feroot\u2019s findings suggest that DeepSeek\u2019s login system incorporates fingerprinting techniques that track users\u2019 devices, a practice widely used by tech firms for security and targeted advertising.
