Source: Cyberport<\/em><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A day prior, on Feb. 26, the Hong Kong government\u2019s 2025\u201326 budget <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyberport.hk\/files\/67bf62234d54c032589016\/%5BPress%20Release%5D%20Cyberport%20Welcomes%20the%202025-2026%20Budget%20for%20Its%20Continued%20Support%20for%20the%20Acceleration%20of%20I&#038;T%20Development.pdf\" rel=\"null\" target=\"null\" text=\"null\" title=\"null\">paid<\/a> special attention to emerging technologies, aiming to \u201cseize the critical opportunities presented by technological reform and artificial intelligence development.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Hong Kong invests heavily in Web3 and AI via the Cyberport hub<\/h2>\n<p>The Chinese Special Administrative Region allocated 1 billion Hong Kong dollars ($125.5 million) to establish the Hong Kong AI Research and Development Institute, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po announced during the Hing Kong budget speech.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/hong-kong-sfc-aspire-roadmap-crypto-expansion\" rel=\"null\" target=\"null\" text=\"null\" title=\"null\"><em><strong>Hong Kong regulator unveils \u2018ASPIRe\u2019 roadmap to become global crypto hub<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The institute is dedicated to \u201cfacilitating upstream R&#038;D, transforming midstream and downstream R&#038;D outcomes, and expanding application scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To fuel the Web3, blockchain and AI innovation, Cyberport\u2019s Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre (AISC), which launched on Dec. 9, 2024, will grow to a computing power of 3,000 petaFLOPS and will be able to process 3,000 quadrillion floating-point operations per second.<\/p>\n<h2>Streamlining AI research and talent development<\/h2>\n<p>Additionally, one of the co-organizers of the AI forum, the World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA), also announced the establishment of the \u201cWDTA Asia-Pacific Institute\u00a0 (preparatory)\u201d at Cyberport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yale Li, the executive chairman of WDTA, highlighted the institute\u2019s three core initiatives. These include building a \u201csafety-native\u201d technological framework, establishing a \u201chuman-oriented\u201d value system and commitment to \u201cresponsible innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cyberport has signed numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with universities and institutions to help students with internship and employment opportunities.
