It appears that the Trumps have yet to find a corner of crypto they don\u2019t like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, the Trump Organization <\/span>filed<\/span><\/a> a slew of trademarks indicating the company is mulling expansion into a digital sector that\u2019s struggled for <\/span>years<\/span><\/a>: the metaverse<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The dozens of proposed new protections for the signature \u201cTrump\u201d mark include \u201cdownloadable <\/span>virtual reality game software featuring crypto tokens for use in online virtual worlds,\u201d and several categories of NFT-backed virtual goods available for sale in a Trump-controlled online marketplace that might populate such an environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the president and his family really are considering launching a metaverse platform in 2025 (or beyond), what might it be like?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to this week\u2019s filings, users might be able to traverse it as Trump-themed avatars donning Trump-branded virtual eyewear, footwear, handbags, and headwear\u2014purchasable with crypto in the Trump NFT store, of course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These virtual Trump beings will not have to linger idly in some netherzone. They may live in virtual houses replete with Trump-themed furniture and toys, where Trump-inspired NFT artwork hangs on walls\u2014and a Trump-branded metaverse limousine, aircraft, or train is just feet away, ready to whisk residents off to a \u201cvirtual restaurant\u201d where they may enjoy \u201csimulated restaurant services provided in virtual environments for entertainment purposes.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, the Trump Organization (or its IP attorneys) haven\u2019t failed to consider the value proposition of our physical realm, as well. If for some reason you ever thought you\u2019d never see a Trump-emblazoned hygienic pad adapted for a virtual reality headset in your lifetime, well\u2026 think again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Large corporations like the Trump Organization routinely file loads of trademark applications as a precaution to protect their brands and keep options open. But a Trump-themed metaverse would also be very consistent with the company\u2019s recent crypto pivot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ever since Donald Trump <\/span>embraced<\/span><\/a> digital assets on the 2024 campaign trail\u2014and then <\/span>unwound<\/span><\/a> regulation of the sector after his return to the White House\u2014his companies and inner circle have dived headfirst into crypto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump has now lent his brand to multiple sets of <\/span>NFT trading cards<\/span><\/a>, a <\/span>decentralized finance platform<\/span><\/a>, and a <\/span>controversial meme coin<\/span><\/a>. The president\u2019s publicly traded social media conglomerate, Trump Media & Technology Group, also recently launched a <\/span>crypto-focused arm<\/span><\/a> seeking to offer digital assets-tied products on Wall Street.<\/span><\/p>\n
