In a blog post about the big change, Google said that the classic Google Assisstant will no longer be available on most Android devices or for new downloads.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-1\">\n<p>The company also confirmed that tablets, cars and other devices that connect to the phone, such as headphones and watches, will also be upgraded to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"manualbacklink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/is-apple-intelligence-ready-to-compete-with-chatgpt-and-google-s-gemini-heres-what-gurman-suggests-11729518283438.html\">Gemini.<\/a> The tech giant also confirmed that it will be bringing Gemini to other home devices such as speakers, displays and TVs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-2\">\n<p>In a release about replacing <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"manualbacklink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/apps\/saying-goodbye-to-voice-commands-google-assistant-removes-these-features-for-2024-11705037782640.html\">Google Assistant<\/a> with Gemini, Brian Marquardt, Senior Director, Product Management, Gemini app wrote, \u201cWhen we launched Google Assistant in 2016, natural language processing and voice recognition technology unlocked a more natural way to get help from Google. Nearly a decade later, we\u2019re in the midst of another platform shift \u2014 this time, generative AI is transforming the way we interact with technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-3\">\n<p>\u201cTo continue our work of building the world\u2019s most helpful assistant, we\u2019ve reimagined the experience with AI at its core to make Gemini your personal, AI-powered assistant. While our expectations for what an assistant can do are rapidly changing, the mission remains the same.\u201d the senior executive added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-4\">\n<h2>Google Assistant is not going for everyone:\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Google also announced that the Google Assistant will continue to be available for devices running Android 9 or earlier, and lacking at least 2GB of RAM.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-5\">\n<p>Over the past year, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"manualbacklink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/topic\/google-apps\">Google<\/a> has shipped Gemini as the default assistant on many new devices from OnePlus, Vivo, Samsung, and others, giving a hint of what was to come.
