Paul Atkins, President Donald Trump\u2019s nominee for SEC chair, has pledged to create a \u2018rational\u2019 and \u2018coherent\u2019 crypto regulatory framework.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In his <\/span>statemen<\/span><\/a>t during the U.S. Senate Banking Committee hearing, he said,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cA top priority of my chairmanship will be to work with my fellow Commissioners and Congress to provide a firm regulatory foundation for digital assets through a rational, coherent, and principled approach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Atkins has a long history with the agency, spanning over three decades and various capacities, including being a staffer and a commissioner. He noted that \u2018ambiguous\u2019 and \u2018non-existent\u2019 regulations in crypto have led to uncertainty and stifled innovation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Top analysts hailed his crypto stance as a massive shift. In fact, Nate Geraci of ETF Store claimed that the nominee placing \u2018<\/span>top priority<\/span><\/a>\u2019 on crypto was a resounding shift.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For his part, Senator Tim Scott, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, <\/span>stated<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf confirmed to lead SEC Paul Atkins will return the agency to its core mission: ensuring our capital markets remain the envy of the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n However, the hearing wasn\u2019t smooth sailing for the nominee, especially from Senator Elizabeth Warren.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
